Sacha And Tan’s Ipoh Office

We went out to have an office in Ipoh. It was designed to be our project office. And here are the pictures.

It is rather nice, I must say. We didn’t make a lot of new things, but instead we recycled a lot of old stuff. We didn’t add new elements into the space, but rather we removed a lot of what was there originally. You could say it has a very low (almost zero) carbon footprint because of the fact that we used very little of any newly manufactured elements. We didn’t have a lot of money to spend, hence we had to be frugal in our decisions. To keep costs low we even are sharing the space with another office who shares the same vision. A lawyer’s office.

We call the space stastudios. We do see it as a multiple-use space that could hold exhibitions or talks, or to host small office events, or to become a space to escape to when KL becomes too hectic. Hence, it’s more a studio, less an office. Less a programmed space, more a space to be programmed.

Below are some pictures of what the space was when we first saw the premises. Beware, it is not as inspiring…

A ray of light! Literally. Upon removing one of the ceiling panels, we glanced upon the wonderful ceiling trusses above. That was when we realised the potential.

This was how it was upstairs. Carpets, false ceiling. Dank.
